U.S.-Japan Extended Deterrence Dialogue

The United States and Japan held the bilateral Extended Deterrence Dialogue (EDD), December 12-13, in Honolulu, Hawaii. The EDD provides an opportunity for the two governments to frankly exchange views on how to secure alliance deterrence as part of their security and defense cooperation. The EDD has been held on a regular basis since 2010 and is part of a larger, continual dialogue between the two governments on deterrence issues.
