Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Richard Stengel will travel to Lima, Peru, November 17-19, to speak at the two-day Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Summit and deliver remarks at the presidential youth town hall on the margins of the APEC Summit. President Obama launched YLAI in 2015 to help empower entrepreneurs and civil society leaders with the training, tools, and resources they need to contribute more fully to economic development and good governance in the Western Hemisphere. The first full YLAI Fellows Program, with 248 participants from Latin America and the Caribbean, kicked-off in October 2016 and culminated in a three-day Washington, D.C., Summit in early November. In Peru, Under Secretary Stengel will speak to the YLAI Fellows, as well as members of the YLAI Network and other Peruvian youth leaders.
In addition, Under Secretary Stengel will meet with Fulbright alumni and other alumni of U.S. government cultural, educational, and English language exchange programs.
