(KPL) Vice Minister of Health Bounkong Sihavong received on Feb 7 a courtesy call from the President of Caritas Luxembourg Mari Josee Jacops as the latter is on a working visit to Laos between Feb 4 and 9, 2019.
At amicable talks, Dr Bounkong Sihavong highly valued the visit to Laos by Ms Mari Josee Jacops and his delegation as a significant contribution to enhancing the friendship and cooperation between Laos and Luxembourg, especially for the health sector.
Ms Mari Josee Jacops reported the progress of three projects in Laos such as the Project for Strengthening Livelihood System, the Community Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Project, and the Community Health Project in Phoukoud and Mok districts in Xieng Khuang Province.
Both sides also discussed preparations needed for the approval of the Nutrition Promotion Programme which will be implemented in Vientiane and Borikhamxay Provinces.
In 2017, the government of Luxembourg signed an MoU to increase grant assistance to Laos from EUR 60 million to EUR 75 million to health sector, rural development, infrastructure development, human resources development, tourism and related services, governance, nutrition and education.
