Vice Premier Pays Guidance Visit to Kommadam Academy

Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone accompanied by senior officials of the Ministry of National Defence on Jan 17 visited Kommadam Academy, a sergeant training institute, in Vientiane Province to extend greetings to its staff, faculty member and students on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Lao People’s Army (Jan 20, 1959-2018).

The visiting Vice Premier was greeted by Brig. Gen. Bounchan Ladsavong in charge of military affairs of Kommadam Academy; senior officials, teachers and students of the academy; and representatives of local authorities.

While talking with the military officers, the deputy prime minister conveyed warm greetings from the Party central committee and the government to the management, teachers and military students of the academy and through them to the families of fallen officers, those injured and nursed at hospitals, and those working in remote areas as well as military retirees.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged the military officers to do their best to promote the policy of the Party and government, protect revolutionary achievements, and incorporate national defence and public security activities into the national socio-economic development and be loyal to the mission of the Party and the nation and attach importance to the improvement of their work regime to ensure it is scientific, realistic and transparent.

Kommadam Academy has originated from Kommadam Military School, founded on 18 June 1955, the first military school to be announced established by late President Kaysone Phomvihane.

The school was originally located in Kangmong village, Soy district, Huaphan Province

(then the stronghold of Pathetlao).

Since its inception, the academy has produced more than 10,000 military officers. Some of them have become national heroic people and hold senior positions of the Party, government and in armed forces.
