Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone visited the Lao Football Federation facilities in Chanthaboury district yesterday to give guidance on the turning of the facilities into a field hospital in case the number of Covid-19 patients pushes hospitals and health workers to the limit.
“The federation is willing to provide its facilities to be used as a field hospital to treat infected people with mild symptoms,” said Vipheth Sihachack, President of the Lao Football Federation.
Realizing that the number of Covid-19 patients increases every day, the Mittaphap Hospital has increased the number of its beds from 10 to 90 over a couple of days.
“If the number of patients is between 80 and 90, our health workers would be able to deal with it,” said Dr Sanong Thongsana, Director General, Mittaphap Hospital.
The main facilities belonging to the Lao National Football Federation at Huayhong, Chanthaboury district, and the National Sports Complex (KM 16) in Xaythany district are likely to be turned into Covid-19 field hospitals.
