Vientiane Public Works and Transport Department has cracked down on street traders who sell their products along the footpaths surrounding Khuadin market and along Khouvieng Road in an attempt to bring order to the area.
Director of Vientiane Public Works and Transport Department Dethsongkharm Thammavong said on June 16 that the relocation of street traders to the allocated area is expected to be completed by June 20.
Taxis with three wheels must be moved to the allocated area, or they will be fined in accordance with traffic laws, aiming to provide more convenient traffic flow and maintain cleanliness in the city, as well as to provide better transport to domestic and foreign visitors.
The relocation of street hawkers is in line with the ongoing campaign of Vientiane Capital under the slogan of Clean Vientiane.
