Almost 120 booths by local furniture business in the country are displaying and selling products at the 2nd Vientiane Furniture Fair 2017 at the Lao ITECC, a shopping complex in Vientiane Capital from 1 to 9 April.
The opening ceremony of the Vientiane Furniture Fair 2017 took place on April 3, in the presence of the Head of Trade Promotion Department, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Mr Somvang Ninthavong, and the Head of Vientiane Industry and Commerce Department, Mr Berline Phetchantharath.
The Vientiane Furniture Fair is aimed to exchange experiences related to hard skills, marketing strategies and challenges, the Vice President of the Lao Furniture Association, Mr Kongmala Phommalay, said at the opening ceremony on April 3.
He said that the fair is also to promote forest preservation through more sustainable growing, harvesting techniques and processing production from wood.
The furniture fair also increases awareness about the Lao furniture production, strengthens Lao creativity and furniture to reach regional and international markets, according to Mr Kongmala.
This year, there are 118 booths from Vientiane Capital and nine other provinces, of which 98 booths are from Vientiane Capital and 20 booths from other provinces.
Festival goers can enjoy many activities at the event ranging from wood carving demonstrations, a singing contest, a Lao New Year suit competition, lucky draws and an entertainment performance in the evening.
