Vietnam donates US$ 500,000, dispatches a medical team to help Laos

The Vietnamese government has donated US$ 500,000 in cash and some medical equipment and dispatch a medical team of 35 specialists to the Lao PDR to support the latter’s fight against the second wave of Covid-19. The medical equipment, including 200 respirators, 10,000 kg of disinfectant, two million facemasks arrived in Vientiane today.

A handover ceremony for the Vietnamese assistance package took place at the Wattay International Airport in Vientiane on May 4 between Deputy Foreign Minister of VietnamTo Anh Dung, representing the Vietnamese government, and Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaikhamphithoun, representingthe Lao government, in the presence of both side officials.

Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo, on behalf of the Party, Government and people of Laos, expressed deep gratitude to the Party, government and people of Vietnam.

The Lao vice premier noted that the assistance constitutes a significant contribution to encouraging Lao medical workers who are working hard against the clock to take care of Covid-19 patients who are rising in number every day, and demonstrates the generosity of Vietnamese government and the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
