As another milestone of the Lao Young Designers Project, the non-profit project Lao Fashion Week sent the winner of Lao Young Designer 2016 on February 11, 2017 to attend a 6-month intensive fashion design course at the ESMOD International School of Fashion and Business in Paris, France.
Saying au revoir and bon voyage to Viseth Sitthilath, the winner of Lao Young Designer 2016 at Wattay International Airport, were French Ambassador to Laos Ms Claudine Ledoux, Chairman of the Board Directors of Lao Fashion Week & the Lao Young Designers Project Mr. Somsanouk Mixay, Founder & CEO of Lao Fashion Week & the Lao Young Designers Project Ms. Pany Saignavongs, and representative of Campus France Ms. Sophie Lalane.
Also present were various designers and the Lao Fashion Week Team who came together to wish Viseth a wonderful ‘apprentis age’ in Paris.
Viseth’s family, including his parents, uncle and young brother, travelled from Savannakhet Province to wish him a safe and pleasant trip.
Viseth Sitthilath is an 18 year-old young man who just has finished his high school in Savannakhet and has been admitted to Lao National University in Vientiane.
Born and raised in Savannakhet, Viseth won first prize in the Fashion Design Contest 2016 under the title ‘Lao New Year’.
Viseth is the second Lao Young Designer to win first prize in the Lao Young Designers Project, a much coveted scholarship to study in the 6-month Intensive Fashion Design Course at ESMOD International in Paris, one of the world’s most prestigious fashion academies.
Si-Amphan Chanthavichit, the Lao Young Designer who won first prize in the Lao Young Designer 2015 contest and is now 19 years old, was sent to study at the same academy in 2016.
Lao Young Designers Project is a non-profit programme of Lao Fashion Week and has close cooperation and great support from the French Embassy in Vientiane, Campus France Laos, ESMOD International, Society Corporation and Lao Fashion Week together with the project partners and sponsors who have put together all efforts to give opportunities to help talented young Laotian designers pursue and realise their dreams.
Lao Fashion Week 2017 is proud to announce this year’s event partners including the Lao Brewery Group representing Kronenbourg 1664, Somersby, and Tuborg, as well as Banque Franco-Lao (BFL), who will be supporting all activities of Lao Fashion Week and the Lao Young Designers Project throughout the year.
