The Xayaburly Provincial Department of Energy and Mines announced on Jul 16 that from Jul 17, 2019 12.00 hours, the Xayaboury hydropower project will begin a 72-hour test for its No. 5 generator.
The test will result in the release of greater-than-normal amount of water from upstream area. As a result the level of water upstream of the project will fall from 273.3 masl to 271 masl, falling by approximately 0.75 m per day, and water level in downstream area will rise up to 237.5 masl.
Once the test is over, the project will let the tide to flow as usual.
