Yakusa Wins Korean Food Cooking Contest In Vientiane

A group of two cooking students, nicknamed Yakusa, has won Korean Food Cooking Contest, (Hansik Contest) grabbing the first prize of US$ 600.

The winners of Hansik Contest 2018 were announced on Oct 6 at Korea Week Festival 2018 in Vientiane Capital by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Lao PDR Shin Sung Sun in the presence of Resident Representative of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) office in Vientiane Sungsoo Oh and Director General of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Park Shag Eun.

The first runner-up was Khalor Team awarded US$ 300 and the second runner-up was Wide Cat given US$100.

Hansik Competition, among activities of Korea Week Festival 2018, aimed to showcase a wide range of Korea food and cultural richness of the Republic of Korea through cooking as well as to promote enhancing the cooperation and people exchange between Laos and the Republic of Korea.

The contest will encourage young generation in Laos who like cooking especially Korean food, said Mr Sungsoo Oh.

Korea Week Festival 2018 was hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vientiane; R. Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs; KOICA; KFPI; KOFIC; AT Center and KOTRA.
