(KPL) The 6th ordinary Session of the National Assembly’s 8th legislature opened this morning at the National Convention Centre, Vientiane in the participation of NA President Pany Yathortou, President Bounnhang Vorachit and Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith.
People’s representatives and other senior government officials were also present at the opening session of the meeting.
The meeting will be open through Dec 21.
Following the opening remarks by NA President, Prime Minister Thongloun briefed the meeting about some achievements the government has achieved in the past months of 2018; priorities of 2019; the implementation of the national socio-economic development plan, state budget plan and monetary plan of 2018; and planned activities for 2019.
Over the course of the meeting, members of the National Assembly will also be reported about and revisit the performance of the state inspection authority over the past months and its planned activities for 2019, the implementation of the state budget plan for 2017; and the inspection conducted after the examination of the report on the implementation of the state budget plan of the 2015-2016 fiscal year.
They will also consider adopting 9 laws including 7 new laws namely Civil Law, Law on Commercial Banks, Law on People with Disabilities, Law on Radiation Safety, Law on Electronic Signature, Law on Health Insurance, Law on Railway, Law on the Representative Offices of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Foreign Countries, and Law on Land.
