National Assembly of Laos Opens 8th Ordinary Session to Discuss Socio-Economic Plans.

(KPL): The 8th Ordinary Session of the 9th legislature of the National Assembly (NA) officially opened on November 18 under the chairmanship of Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the National Assembly, with Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Lao PDR, Mr. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister, along with other Party and State leaders, former Party and State leaders, and members of the National Assembly.

According to Lao News Agency, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone reported on the implementation of the socio-economic development plan, the state budget plan, the 2024 monetary plan, and the 2025 plan in connection with the national agenda on resolving economic and financial difficulties. He also discussed the 2025 state investment plan, the 2025 state budget allocation plan for ministries, central agencies, and provinces, and proposed amendments to the 2024 state budget plan.

vided insights into the implementation of the socio-economic development plan, the state budgetary plan, and the 2024 currency plan, as well as plans for 2025. He presented the government’s report on a draft strategic plan for the management and development of agricultural land through 2030, with a vision extending to 2040. Additionally, discussions included the state budget for 2025 and the allocation of funds to ministries, organizations, and localities.

The session also addressed the progress of the education system reform strategy and plans for developing national human resources. Legislative evaluations are set to cover the implementation of four significant laws: the Law on Education, the Law on the Control of Alcoholic Beverages, the Law on Labour, and the Law on Labels.

Other important reports to be presented include the state audit agency’s review of 2024 activities, its 2025 work plan, and the National Committee’s progress on amending the 2015 Constitution of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
