The cities of Valencia and Malaybalay in Bukidnon are participating in the National Family Week celebration, emphasizing its role in fostering strong family values and nation-building.
On Monday, both cities issued directives encouraging government employees to observe the “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day,” which allows an early dismissal from work, moving the end of the workday from 5 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Valencia City Mayor Azucena Huervas said the initiative is designed to promote Filipino family unity and relationships through meaningful activities that highlight core Filipino values.
Malaybalay City Mayor Warren Pabillaran also affirmed the celebration but clarified that essential public services would remain operational despite the early work suspension.
‘The suspension does not include scheduled activities and meetings unless other offices also choose to observe the work suspension,’ Pabillaran said.
The local orders follow a circular from Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, in line with Proclamation No.
60 (1992), which declared the last week of September as Family Week, and Proclamation No. 326 (2012), which designated the fourth Monday of September as “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day.”
