China provides another 500,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine to Laos

) The Chinese government has provided as a gift 500,000 doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine to the Lao PDR to fight the outbreak of the disease in the country.

A handover ceremony for the Chinese aid took place at the Ministry of Health in Vientiane on Jun 15 between Chinese Ambassador to the Lao PDR Jiang Zaidong and Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune. Relevant officials of the two countries witnessed the handover.

Representing the government and people of Laos, Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo highly valued the assistance the government and people of China have constantly provided to Laos to support its fight against Covid-19.

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the fraternal Chinese government and people and noted that China always cares for and provides priceless assistance to the government and people of Laos and this explicitly demonstrates the generosity of the government and people of China and reaffirmed the traditional fraternity, the strong and sustainable strategic comprehensive cooperative partnership in line with the four-good principle and the partnership of shared future between Laos and China.

“The assistance from China constitutes a significant support for the Lao government to prevent and combat the new wave of Covid-19 pandemic in Laos and thus restoring normalcy in Laos in the near future,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

In reply, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong assured the host that the Chinese government will continue to provide assistance to the Lao PDR to support its preventive and combat efforts against Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
