The government has approved Thailand’s TPC Power Holding Public Company to carry out a feasibility study on the construction of the Xe Banghieng 1 Hydropower Project in Savannakhet Province.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Vientiane Capital on February 2 between the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Khamlien Pholsena and Executive Committee of the TPC Power Holding Public Company, Ms Kahokthip Chanhphalangsy.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr Sinapha Souphanouvong and relevant officials.
The Xe Banghieng 1 Hydropower project is expected to amount to an investment of around 3 billion baht (about US$85.5 million) and is expected to generate about 30-50 MW per year, according to Manager of TPC Power Holding Public Company Vikhoun Lohamongkhoun.
The feasibility study will run for 18 months.
