The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Lao PDR has reached 323 including 76 confirmed today.
The newly confirmed cases included 64 in Vientiane, five in Saravan, four in Luang Namtha, two in Savannakhet and one in Bokeo, the National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control told a press conference today.
The Taskforce Committee and the Ministry of Health in cooperation with relevant sectors are taking into account the arrangement of field hospitals at various locations, especially in Vientiane, to ensure health services and medical treatment are accessible to the infected.
“The most important is all of us must take part in implementing measures imposed by the Taskforce Committee as well as the notice No 15, dated April 21 2021, and the instructions of relevant sectors,” said Dr Phonepadith Sangxayalath, Director of the National Centre for Laboratory and Epidemiology, Ministry of Health, adding that the cooperation from all sectors in society is crucial for making the country overcome the health crisis.
“Those who have had close contact with the infected or have visited risk areas are highly advised to have Covid test at test centres, isolate yourselves from family and close ones for 14 days,” said Dr Phonepadith Sangxayalath.
