Environmental management priorities discussed

The 3rd Meeting of World Bank’s Environmental Protection Fund Office was held in Vientiane on Jul 4 to discuss and confirm priorities activities of the project.

During the meeting, participants discussed organizational preparation, financial management, gender work, climate change, community involvement, project outcomes and monitoring, among others. In addition, the meeting also reviewed the progress of the preparation of environmental and social framework tools, administrative-financial tools and determined the direction of future plans.

Participants of the meeting will also visit landfills in Vientiane, which is part of the project’s target area. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Vilana Sonenasin, Director General of the Department of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ms. Pakkavan Pitsamai, Director of the Office of the Environmental Protection Fund, and Mr. Maurice Rollins, a senior environmental expert.
