ESQAC Launches Exma Project in Laos

The Educational Standards and Quality Assurance Centre (ESQAC), in collaboration with the FPT University of Vietnam, last Friday in Vientiane Province launched the Exma Project (Excellent management) to test the knowledge of learners via an online system.

The aim of the launching of this project is to develop quality education in Laos and also to provide a data-information platform for teachers, students and administrators according to Director of the Educational Standards and Quality Assurance Centre Mr Vanxay Noraseng.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sports, Mr Sisamone Sitthirathvongsa said that nowadays, IT is very important in the education sector in our country. So the management of educational management databases and online teaching and learning sites are of great importance.

One the same day the Educational Standards and Quality Assurance Centre launched the website http://www.laolympic.la, aiming to test the knowledge of learners via an online system, and to promote the use of technology in teaching and learning in all the levels according to Mr Vanxay.

Mr Vanxay said that the Educational Standards and Quality Assurance Centre signed the agreement on data education quality management with FPT University in 2014.

He said that in the beginning, this website will initially only allow students to test in two subjects but will later be upgraded to test in other subjects. The tests cover levels from primary to university.

In addition, this project also enhances cooperation between the Educational Standards and Quality Assurance Centre and the FPT University of Vietnam. This programme is supported by Lao Star Telecom (Unitel). The launching ceremony was attended by the Director of the Education and Sports Department of Vientiane Province, Ms Chanhpheng Viphavanh and Deputy Director of Lao Star Telecom (Unitel) Mr Nguyen Hoang Son, along with teachers and students.
