People and authorities of Huaphan held celebration to mark the 15th anniversary of Crystal City Pillar Park of the northern province on May 16-17.
The two-day celebration was joined by Governor of Huaphan Province Vanxay Phengsoumma, governors of all 10 districts in the province, representatives of business community, relevant authorities and local people.
Since 2008, Crystal City Pillar Park has been celebrated every year by leaders and people of Huaphan Province.
This year celebration also featured a market fair of products from the 10 districts, a Miss Silk contest, and an alms giving ceremony in honour of those who dedicated their lives to the national liberation cause several decades ago.
The Crystal City Pillar Park was built in 2008 to serve as a spiritual centre and to promote dignity, reputation, heroism of Huaphan people. Huaphan was a stronghold of Lao national revolution and birthplace of Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Lao People’s Army.
Crystal City Pillar Park symbolises the gratitude of Huaphan people to their ancestors, warriors, and those who made significant contribution to the national revolutionary cause.
Over the past 15 years, Huaphan has witnessed a constant socio-economic growth with gross domestic product GDP reaching 400 billion kip this year and an annual per capita income of 14 million kip.
