Khammuan Province has granted a licence to the Chinese company Racitar to build a hydropower dam with generation capacity of 15 MW on the Nam Hinboun River in Khammuan Province.
The Racitar Company will invest 300 billion kip (almost US$37 million) in the construction of the dam, which had its groundbreaking ceremony held on Feb 12 in Khammuan Province in the attendance of Deputy Governor of Khammuan Province Mr Oday Soudaphone, Minister of Energy and Mines Mr Khammany Inthilath, the chief of Hinboun district, provincial authorities and locals.
Director of Racitar Co., Ltd. Mrs Bounheuang Oudone said that the project aims to develop clean power, a sustainable economy in the nation, and to generate power by using a modern technology approach.
The dam will be located in Khamkeo village, Hinboun district, Khammuan Province on National Road No 13 South.
The construction of the dam started in November 2016. Its foundation is currently basically complete and the remaining construction is expected to be completed within 27 months.
