The Lanexang Intra indoor stadium in Sisattanak, Vientiane has been turned into a 306-bed field hospital for Covid-19 patients.
The hospital can be expanded to have up to 450 beds in case the number of Covid-19 patients in Vientiane is much greater than present.
A handover and opening ceremony for the newly built hospital took place at the field hospital in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, Minister of Health Bounfeng Phoummalaysith, Vientiane Mayor Atsaphangthong Siphandone, representatives of donors and relevant authorities.
The Deputy Prime Minister highly valued the contribution of business community to transforming the stadium into a field hospital to deal with the most urgent and necessary incidents of the country. He noted that such contribution represented their great dedication, awareness of contributing to the cause of the society in time of necessity.
