Over 100 medical doctors representing each sector across the country on June 19 celebrated the Lao Medicine Day (June 18) in Vientiane Capital.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Minister of Health, Dr Bounkhong Sihavong, said that the Lao Medicine Day was founded according to the Medical Treatment Law aiming to ensure Lao ethnic groups have access to healthcare and medical dispensaries.
The National Assembly approved the Lao Medicine Day on June 18, 2014.
The celebration called for better medical service given by doctors and health officials and better contributions to society, as well as medical treatment given to members of Lao ethnic groups.
The event is part of a public campaign on family and community healthcare by spreading awareness and providing useful information to the public.
