Laos expresses condolences over earthquakes in Turkiye

President Thongloun Sisoulith has sent a letter of sympathy to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan over severe earthquakes in the south-eastern part of the Republic of Turkiye which took place on Feb 6. Dated February 10, 2023, the letter partly read: I have learned with profound sadness that severe earthquakes took place in the south-eastern part of Turkiye on February 6, 2023 and resulted in loss of life and injury to a large number of people and severe damages to the property of people living in the region.

(KPL) President Thongloun Sisoulith has sent a letter of sympathy to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan over severe earthquakes in the south-eastern part of the Republic of Turkiye which took place on Feb 6.

Dated February 10, 2023, the letter partly read: I have learned with profound sadness that severe earthquakes took place in the south-eastern part of Turkiye on February 6, 2023 and resulted in loss of life and injury to a large number of people and severe damages to the property of people living in the region.

On behalf of the government and people of Laos and on my own behalf, I would like to express profound sadness and deepest sympathy to you and through you to the government of the Republic of Turkiye especially to the families of the earthquake victims.

I believe that under your leadership, the solidarity of people of Turkiye and the help from the international community, Turkiye will be able to overcome this disaster and restore the livelihoods of the people to normalcy soon.
