Representatives of Laos and France represented by the French Embassy in Vientiane met in Vientiane on Jan 25 to share lessons and experiences related to climate change and sustainable development issues.
The meeting saw the presence of Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Ms Monemany Nhoybouakong, French Ambassador to Lao PDR Ms.Claudine Ledoux and representatives of relevant sectors.
“The discussions at the meeting focused on outstanding issues including the enforcement of laws on land and natural resources, the management of agricultural and forest areas, the approval of land leases and concessions, and the collection of land related revenue. These are to ensure that planning of land management and land use is conducted in a sustainable and effective manner thus promoting the protection of biodiversity and the improvement of local livelihoods as well as the creation of favourable conditions for industrialization and modernization in the country,” said Ms Monemany.
