Some 199 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded nationwide over the past 24 hours with 135 classified as imported cases and 64 as local transmissions, according to Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Rattannaxay Phetsouvanh.
The imported cases, dominated by migrant workers returning from neighboring countries, were identified in Savannakhet 54, Champassak 51, Saravan 19, Khammuan 5, Vientiane 4 and Borikhamxay 2.
The local infections were reported in Vientiane 24, Savannaket 14, Bokeo 11, Luang Namtha 8, Saravan 3, Khammuan 2, and one each in Champassak and Oudomxay.
Laos’s total of Covid-19 infections has reached 15,015 including 4,983 active cases and 14 deaths.
