Laos posts a trade deficit of US$ 133 million

The Lao PDR posted a trade deficit of around US$133 million in the first six months of 2022, according to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Laos’ trade value in the first half of the year reached US$ 1,000 million with the value of exports estimated at US$ 456 million and imports at US$ 589 million.

Laos’ main imports included automobiles, diesel, mechanical equipment, automobile parts, steel and steel products, plastic utensils, pharmaceutical products, power lines, cables, petroleum products, premium gasoline, wood pulps, and chemicals.

Meanwhile the country’s major exports included mixed gold, gold bars, bronze ores, paper and paper products, rubber, bananas, clothing, shoes, sugar, glass and glassware.
