Laos Welcomes North-South Korean Leaders’ Summit

Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR Saleumxay Kommasith has issued a statement welcoming the outcome of the recently held meeting between Supreme Leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un and President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in.

The statement dated Sep 20, 2018 read:

The Lao PDR welcomes the outcome of the 3rd Summit between Chairman Kim Jong-un of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea (ROK) during 18-20 September 2018 in Pyongyang.

The Lao PDR views that the outcome of this Inter-Korean Summit contributes significantly not only to further promoting the good relations and cooperation between the two Koreas, but it also reaffirms the efforts made by the two Koreas towards maintenance of peace, permanent security and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The Lao PDR is pleased to note that the situation in Korean Peninsula has been developed in a positive way and hopes that all parties concerned would continue to maintain this good momentum.

The Lao PDR reaffirms its consistent support for denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula by peaceful means, for the benefits of peace, stability and development cooperation on the Korean Peninsula and the world at large.
