(KPL) The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Korean companies in Laos hosted the 2019 Mekong Riverside Waste Collection Day on the Mekong Riverside in Sisattanak district, Vientiane Capital to raise awareness of environmental protection on Dec 13.
This event was joined by representatives of Korean public institutions such as KOTRA, KOICA, KOFIH, KOPIA, Exim Bank of Korea, EPS Center, the Korean Nationals Association and the Vientiane Urban Development Administration Authority (VUDAA).
The Embassy and the Korean companies expect this event to be a meaningful opportunity to make contributions to the local community and people of Vientiane Capital, raising awareness of the protection of environment, said Mr Shin Sung Soon, Korean Ambassador to the Lao PDR.
He also said that the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean businesses are keen to see that Vientiane Capital citizens actively participate in making contributions to the local community.
We will continue to work together with VUDAA’s office and Vientiane residents to help build a prosperous community, based on the friendship and solidarity between the peoples of both countries, said the ambassador.
This event is best example for general public because they can participate in environment protection, said Mr Bounchan Keosithamma, VUDAA Director. VUDAA’s office has arranged two garbage trucks and 30 dustmen to pick up the collected garbage.
