NA’s 5th Ordinary Session Opened, Important Issues Highlighted

The Fifth Ordinary Session of the National Assembly (8th legislature) was officially opened in Vientiane on June 5 in the presence of President Bounnhang Vorachit and President of the National Assembly Pany Yathortou, and people’s representatives.

Vice President Phankham Viphavanh, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, cabinet members of the government, lawmakers and representatives of relevant sectors also attended the opening ceremony.

The National Assembly Ordinary Session will be held through 28, 2018.

The session will also consider for approval reports by the government about the implementation of the social-economic development plan and state budget plan over the past six months and the appointment of judge members of the People’s Supreme Court.

The meeting is also expected to consider 13 draft laws including five new laws namely Laws on Vaccination, Residential and Occupational Allocation, Signs, Public Debt Management and War Veterans.

Draft amendments to 13 laws will be proposed to the meeting for consideration including Law on Business Conflict Settlement, Law on Value Added Tax, Law on the Bank of the Lao PDR, Law on Social Security, Law on Family Registration, Law on Civil Aviation, Law on Military Officers of the Lao People’s Army and Law on Lao Front For National Development.
