Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President Thongloun Sisoulith has sent a letter to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping expressing sincere gratitude on behalf of the Party, government and people of Laos to the Party, government and people of China for extending priceless anti-Covid-19 aid to the Lao PDR.
“On behalf of the Lao people of all ethnic groups and on my own behalf, I would like to express sincere thanks to comrade and through comrade to fraternal Chinese people for always providing support and assistance to us in a comprehensive and regular manner. Such support and assistance have contributed significantly to the national socio-economic development and poverty reduction of the Lao people as well as to the suppression of Covid-19 pandemic in the Lao PDR,” said President Thongloun Sisoulith.
The president also expressed his confidence that the cooperation and assistance to from China will enable the Lao PDR to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic and restore the economy and people’s livelihoods to normalcy in the near future.
Since the beginning of the second wave of Covid-19 in mid April, the Chinese government has sent experts, medical equipment, medicines, and three million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to the Lao PDR.
