Dhaka, June 12 (UNB) Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Chairperson Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Friday underscored the need for regional cooperation for economic and social development of the South Asian countries.
She made the remarks while inaugurating the 3rd China-South Asia Exposition and 23rd China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair arranged in Yunnanprovince of China, said a Parliament Secretariat release here.
“It’s not possible to achieve progress either in the economic sector or social sector without regional cooperation. So, the South Asian countries should work together for forging relations of regional cooperation,” the Bangladesh Speaker said.
She hoped that the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China would reach a new height in the future through the relation of cooperation between the two countries the in economic and social sectors, which will drive Bangladesh towards development.
Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao, Maldives President Abdulla Yameen and Laos Commerce Minister were present in the function.
Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will return home on June 14.
