SAO President receives new R. Korean Ambassador

President of the State Audit Organization (SAO) Viengthavisone Thepphachanh received a courtesy call from newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Lao PDR Jung Yung Soo in Vientiane on May 10.

Expressing a warm welcome to the guest, Mr Viengthavisone appreciated Jung Yung Soo’s active contribution to the socio-economic development in Laos, especially in areas of education, health, rural development, agriculture, and energy over the past years.

Both sides noted that the cooperation on economy, investment, tourism and trade between the two countries has grown satisfactorily.

They also discussed cooperation between SAO and the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI) of Korea.

SAO President informed the guest about the role and responsibility of his organization and its development strategy 2025 as well as the difficulties and challenges it is facing.

He also asked the Korean ambassador to encourage BAI to support capacity building of SAO through training and development of state audit curriculum, exchange of lessons on the use of cutting edge technology for state audit purposes.

Ambassador Jung Yung Soo noted that his meeting with the host also gave a good start to the cooperation between SAO and the Korean embassy thus contributing to the socio-economic development of the Lao PDR and the celebration of the 28th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two countries (Oct 25, 1995-2023).
