The Annual Friendly Golf Tournament kicked off in Vientiane Capital on November 20 to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR and diplomatic corps.
The Golf Tournament was held at Long Vien Golf Club in Vientiane Capital and was organized by the Embassy of Malaysia in Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR.
The tournament attracted the participation of more than 60 players comprising Cabinet Ministers, Vice Ministers and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives of diplomatic corps to Laos.
The tournament was also joined by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Saleumxay Kommasith, and Ambassador of Malaysia to Lao PDR Mr Dato’ Than Tai Hing.
At the event, Mr Dato congratulated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Lao PDR for its excellent stewardship of Chairman of ASEAN 2016, notably the convening of the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits held in Vientiane in September 2016.
Under the Chairmanship of the Lao PDR, ASEAN has taken significant steps in the first year of the establishment of the ASEAN Community towards realization of ASEAN Vision 2025 under the theme “Turning Vision into Reality for a Dynamic ASEAN Community”. With this important milestone, it is hoped that ASEAN will reach greater heights moving towards the goal of creating a meaningful integrated region that will result in more prosperity for its peoples.
