Vice President Pany Yathortou on Jun 16 visited Trio garment factory and Trimak garment factory in Vientiane. The two factories are major garment producers in the Lao PDR.

Vice President Pany Yathortou urged the management of the two factories to attach more attention to Covi-19 preventive and containment measures to make sure none of their workers is infected with Covid-19.

Trio garment factory was built in 1995 as a foreign direct investment – FDI. It currently has more than 2,700 workers and a monthly production capacity of more than 200,000 garment products. Its monthly exports are estimated at 27.5 billion kip (approximately US$2.85 million).

Almost 600 workers of the factory have been vaccinated against Covid-19 with 133 given first doses and 1,633 given second doses.

The Trimark garment factory was built in February 1994 as a foreign direct investment. It has over 700 workers. More than 90% of its workforce are Lao nationals.

The factory has 96% of its workers vaccinated against Covid-19.
