Some 824 new Covid-19 cases and one new death have been reported nationwide over the previous 24 hours, bringing the total to 99,396 including 12,298 active cases and 274 deaths, the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control said today.

Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health Dr Sisavath Soutthanilaxay told a press conference today that the new infections were detected among 5,231 people tested for Covid-19.

Of the new cases, 823 were classified as domestic infections and one as imported case – documented in Khammuan.

The domestic infections included 294 reported in Vientiane, 93 in Bokeo, 72 in Oudomxay, 70 in Luang Prabang, 59 in Vientiane (province), 41 in Luang Namtha, 27 each in Xayaboury and Xieng Khuang, 21 each in Xaysomboun and Champassak, and 20 in Khammuan.

Some 881 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide yesterday.
