94 Arrested in Surigao Norte Anti-Crime Operations

Surigao city: The Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (SDNPPO) reported the arrest of 94 individuals during a Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) conducted from September 11 to 14.

According to Philippines News Agency, the arrests included 19 wanted persons, with two on the regional most wanted list, as a result of executing arrest warrants in 21 operations.

The operations also targeted illegal drug activities, leading to the arrest of 15 suspects across 14 anti-drug operations. Authorities confiscated a total of 31.213 grams of illegal drugs valued at PHP212,259.96 during these operations.

The four-day initiative encompassed efforts to protect environmental and marine sanctuaries, resulting in 43 arrests and the seizure of 197 kilos of marine products worth PHP41,920. Additionally, one person was apprehended for illegal logging activities, leading to the confiscation of 144.5 board feet of illegal logs valued at PHP14,450.

In efforts to curb illegal gambling, 16 violators were arrested in four operations. The crackdown also saw the surrender of nine loose firearms for safekeeping. SDNPPO Director Col. Warren Dablo credited the success of the operations to strong community cooperation, emphasizing the police force’s commitment to serving and protecting the residents of Surigao del Norte.
