‘Layover tours’ for transiting NAIA passengers to launch in November

Manila: The Department of Tourism (DOT) is planning to launch the country’s ‘layover tours’ for tourists transiting the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in November.

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco said the agency is in consultation with the new NAIA operator the San Miguel-led New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC).

‘One of the expansions of our Hop-on Hop-off (HOHO) is the offering of transit tours to layover passengers so that they can enjoy Metro Manila’s offerings even with a very short amount of time,’ she said in an interview on the sidelines of the Philippine Hotel Industry Strategic Action Plan (PHISAP) in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday.

‘In November, we are actually launching our transit tours in the airport here in Manila and we are actively working with the private operator of the NAIA airports,’ she added.

On top of the tours, Frasco said the DOT plans to put up a ‘medical tourism concierge’ at the airport to streamline assistance for medical tourists.

The DOT, meanwhile, has yet to
announce the final HOHO hubs that would be included in the tours.

Local and foreign tourists in the country may avail of the HOHO tours, either guided or do-it-yourself, through its mobile application ‘HOHO app’ that can be downloaded in the App Store and Google Play Store.
