Lao and Armenian National Assemblies Enhance Cooperation

(KPL) On October 19, 2024, in Vientiane, Vice President of the National Assembly of Laos, Mr. Khambay Damlat, held talks with his Armenian counterpart, Mr. Hakob Arshakyan, who is visiting Laos to attend the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45), hosted by the Lao PDR.

During the meeting, Mr. Khambay expressed his appreciation for Mr. Arshakyan’s participation, viewing it as a show of support for Laos in fulfilling its international obligations as the chair of AIPA-45.

He highlighted that this visit contributes to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Laos and Armenia, as well as between their legislative bodies.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Laos and Armenia in 1998, the bilateral relationship has steadily developed, although there have been relatively fewer exchanges of high-level delegations.

Both sides acknowledged that economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries remains below expectations and needs
to be further promoted.

Mr. Khambay proposed increasing high-level exchanges between the two parliaments and called for both governments to prioritize the implementation of existing bilateral agreements.

He also emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation and mutual support in regional and international forums.
