The China Media Group (CMG), China’s conglomerate of state radio and television broadcasters, and the People’s Government of Guangxi jointly held ASEAN Media Partners Forum 2023 in Nanning, Guangxi, China on Jun 6.
The forum was attended by over 200 government officials, media leaders, and renowned scholars from China and ASEAN countries.
With the theme “Innovation, Joined Hands, Future”, the forum aimed to promote the expanding of multi-fields, deep-seated and all-weather pragmatic media cooperation between China and ASEAN.
“As an international comprehensive media carrier with the largest volume in scale globally, the most dynamic form of business, and the widest coverage around the world, CMG has been in close connections with ASEAN media over the past few years, and has accomplished remarkable results,”said Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, President and Editor-in-Chief of China Media Group Shen Haixiong.
“We worked in cooperation with our media counterparts in Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Malaysia, co-produced 10 different TV programmes, created refreshing and inspiring all-media content for the ASEAN audience who look forward to learning and understanding more about China, and in the meantime show the audience around the world the real, three-dimensional, and comprehensive China and ASEAN,” added CMG President.
Delivering remarks at the meeting, Mr. Khampheuy Philapha, Director General, Lao News Agency called on China and ASEAN member states with advanced digital industry to make the best use of China proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and other existing mechanisms to promote innovation while helping small economies better engage in this trend.
“As media is transitioning to greater digital advances with diverse communication technologies, our collective efforts in fostering media innovation is strongly required. ASEAN and its key partner China need to work together to create a future media that is immersive, constructive audience-engaging, accurate, low-latency, and secure,” said Mr. Khampheuy.
ASEAN Media Partners Forum has successfully held two sessions, bringing together government officials, international organisations, media leaders, and renowned scholars from China and ASEAN countries.
Through this platform they collectively advance media cooperation in various fields, enhance mutual understanding and trust between the two sides, contribute media wisdom to deepen China-ASEAN relations, and promote high quality cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative.
The day also witnessed the launch of China-ASEAN Media Complex AI Studio, ASEAN Zone in the EtherealSound App of CMG, the Chinese Culture Digital Images Itinerant Exhibition in ASEAN, and ASEAN Media Partners Group’s Tour on Chinese Modernisation.
