DTI Hosts Discounted ‘Noche Buena’ Package Fair in Negros Oriental

Manila – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Negros Oriental is offering residents a more affordable holiday season through a two-day Diskwento Caravan-Noche Buena Edition in Bayawan City. Held on Wednesday and Thursday, this event aims to benefit the southern part of the province. Krystle Jade Bato, DTI Development Specialist – Consumer Protection Division and Information Officer, explained that Bayawan was chosen as this year’s venue due to its size and the opportunity to impact a larger number of residents.

According to Philippines News Agency, the caravan features discounted items ranging from 3 to 10 percent below the suggested retail price, with some products being offered in bulk for additional savings. At least seven manufacturers and distributors are participating, offering a variety of goods including bread, canned meat, cooking oil, detergent soap, instant noodles, milk, biscuits, and other prime commodities, as well as traditional Noche Buena products.

Retailers of products under the DTI’s Product Certification Scheme with the Philippine Standard (PS) license and/or the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) certificate are also partaking in the caravan. Items such as Christmas lights, household items, and electronic devices with PS or ICC marks are available at the event.

DTI-Negros Oriental Provincial Director Nimfa Virtucio encouraged residents, especially those in the southern areas, to take advantage of the discounts offered. Bato noted that the Diskwento Caravan, typically organized to assist consumers during calamities, is being held during the holiday season in partnership with the Bayawan City government to provide access to reasonably-priced, quality products for consumers.
