Antique records 3OK affected families, 1 death due to ‘Bebinca’


SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The provincial government here is appealing for help for 30,543 families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Bebinca, which also left one dead in Antique.

Governor Rhodora Cadiao, in an interview on Monday, said heavy rains caused flash floods in 16 municipalities of the province. Caluya and Libertad towns have yet to file their report.

The affected families consisted of 362 from Anini-y; Bugasong, 1,885; Tibiao, 561; San Jose de Buenavista, 503; Valderrama, 167; Sebaste, 181; Belison, 4,690; Sibalom, 2,597; Laua-an, 1,463; Tobias Fornier, 216; San Remigio, 523; Pandan, 2,957; Culasi, 409; Hamtic, 1,740; Patnongon,309; and Barbaza with 6,525 families.

‘The provincial government had also been extending family food packs to the affected families,’ she said.

The Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office report as of 5 p.m. on Monday showed the weather disturbance damaged 164 houses, 24 of which were destroyed and others partially damaged.

Meanwhile, th
e body of Rogelio Estocado, 67, of Barangay Dumrog, Pandan, was found over the weekend. He was swept by the flash flood on the evening of Sept. 12.

The governor also instructed the validation of the report that the flood has washed out 25 tombs in Barangay Aguila in Sebaste.
