Champassak’s Khong builds new quarantine centre to cope with the influx of migrants

Authorities of Khong district, Champassak Province held on Aug 11 a groundbreaking ceremony for a new quarantine centre to be used for accommodating the influx of migrants returning from neigbouring countries amid Covid-19 pandemic.

The ceremony was officiated by Governor of Khong district Khamphou Litthisack in the presence of representatives of relevant authorities.

“With the agreement of the Party Committee of the district, we have designated the stadium of the district to be used as the construction site of this Covid-19 quarantine and surveillance centre. The building will be sized 15×20 m, fully equipped with water supply and electrical appliances, one restroom building. Its total construction cost is 300 million kip. Once fully built, the centre will be able to accommodate 100 people.
