San mateo: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) have entered into a partnership aimed at providing housing to families graduating from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). This initiative will allow these families to acquire homes under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
According to Philippines News Agency, the agreement was formalized at Abuab Towers in San Mateo, Rizal, with the signing of a joint memorandum circular (JMC). This circular institutionalizes housing assistance for 4Ps beneficiaries. Abuab Towers is a component of the Expanded 4PH Program and consists of 17 multi-story buildings, featuring 4,330 housing units over a 4.6-hectare site in Barangay Guitnang Bayan 2. The event also included a ceremonial turnover of housing units to selected families.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling highlighted the initiative’s role in enhancing government convergence, aiding families in maintaining social protection gains while securing homes. He emphasized that this aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure assistance reaches Filipinos in need. DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian noted the partnership’s potential for long-term benefits to the nation’s poorest households. The JMC represents a significant step in transitioning families from social welfare dependency to long-term stability, aligning with President Marcos Jr.’s vision for a cohesive government approach to program support.
