Vientiane: At the Office of the Party Central Committee: General Vilay Lakhamfong, Member of the Politburo of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Public Security, received a courtesy call from Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Member of the Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, during his official working visit to the Lao PDR.
According to Lao News Agency, General Vilay Lakhamfong appreciated the visit and thanked the senior leadership of Vietnam for their warm greetings. He specifically acknowledged the congratulatory message from the Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on his appointment as Standing Member of the Secretariat of the 12th Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP).
During their meeting, General Vilay briefed the Vietnamese delegation on the successful outcomes of the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party. The Congress was held under the theme of enhancing the Party’s leadership, building an independent economy, and strengthening the people’s democratic regime. He highlighted that the Congress marked a political milestone, initiating a new phase in the renovation process of the Lao PDR.
Both sides valued the Great Friendship, Special Solidarity, and Comprehensive Cooperation between Laos and Vietnam. They agreed to enhance political trust through regular high-level exchanges and expand cooperation across all sectors for mutual benefits. They committed to preserving and nurturing the special bilateral relationship despite regional or global changes.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong congratulated the Lao side on the success of the 12th National Congress of the LPRP and General Vilay on his new appointment. He conveyed warm greetings from Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Standing Member of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong also informed about his meetings with the External Relations Board of the LPRP Central Committee, focusing on preparations for upcoming high-level visits. He provided updates on preparations for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, scheduled for January 19-25, 2026.
On the same day, Mr. Bounleua Phandanouvong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the External Relations Board, held a session with Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong. Mr. Valaxay Lengsavad, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, met with the Vietnamese delegation to discuss the implementation of high-level agreements and promote cooperation between the External Relations Board of the LPRP and the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
