Hai Duong and Vientiane Strengthen Ties Through People’s Council Exchange

Hai Duong: The People’s Council of the northern province of Hai Duong hosted a working session with a delegation from the People’s Council of Vientiane, Laos. The delegation was led by Bun Sone Phet La Van, Deputy Secretary of the Vientiane Party Committee and Chairman of its People’s Council.

According to Lao News Agency, the relationship between Hai Duong and Vientiane began on October 19, 1984, with a friendship and cooperation agreement. Over the years, the bond has grown stronger and more comprehensive. During the working session, both parties exchanged insights into their respective socio-economic progress and discussed the roles and responsibilities of their People’s Councils.

Le Van Hieu, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hai Duong Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, emphasized the importance of the Vietnam-Laos friendship. He mentioned that last September, the Hai Duong People’s Council passed a resolution to support Lao students from Vientiane in studying Vietnamese language preparatory courses in Hai Duong.

Phet La Van praised Hai Duong for its achievements and expressed a desire to further strengthen the cooperation and solidarity between the two regions. The Vientiane delegation showed interest in learning from Hai Duong’s experience in various areas, including investment policies, voter petitions, complaint resolution, and human resource management. They also sought insights into budget allocation and training programs.

In response, Hieu shared Hai Duong’s strategies for developing industrial infrastructure and attracting investment, particularly in high-tech sectors and logistics. He highlighted the province’s resolutions supporting land policies, which include land rental exemptions, to balance benefits for the province, businesses, and residents.

During their visit, the Vientiane delegation also toured Hai Duong’s cage fish farming areas.
