HCM City Prioritizes Strengthening Ties with Laos, Affirms Deputy Secretary

Ho Chi Minh City: The Party organization, government, and people of Ho Chi Minh City are committed to prioritizing the enduring friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, particularly with its twinned Lao localities, as stated by Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi.

According to Lao News Agency, Nghi made these remarks during a visit to the Lao Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. The visit was on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP). He acknowledged the achievements of the Party, State, and people of Laos over the past 70 years. Under the leadership of the LPRP, Laos has accomplished significant milestones in national liberation and development.

The official reiterated Ho Chi Minh City’s commitment to strengthening relations with Lao localities. The city supports Laos’ comprehensive reforms and is optimistic about future successes under the LPRP’s leadership. Nghi emphasized the city’s dedication to deepening cooperation with Laos across various sectors.

Lao Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Phonesy Bounmixay, expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in bilateral ties. He thanked Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh City, for its support in Laos’ independence struggle and ongoing development efforts. He appreciated the cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Lao ministries, sectors, and localities.

Bounmixay expressed hope for expanded cooperation, particularly in education and human resources training. He also emphasized the importance of people-to-people exchanges, especially among the youth, to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
