Ilocos Norte Town Provides Free Clean Drinking Water to Residents

Manila: The municipality of Banna in Ilocos Norte is ensuring that residents across all its villages have access to safe, clean, and potable water by implementing a reverse osmosis water filtration system.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Mary Chrislyn Abadilla has confirmed that the water purifier technology has already been installed in six out of the municipality’s 20 villages, which include Bugasi, Caestebanan, Sinamar, Bomitog, Imelda, and Caribquib. Mayor Abadilla assured residents that the installation process will soon extend to the remaining villages, emphasizing the local government’s commitment to providing free drinking water to every Bannatiran.

The initiative is part of a broader effort by the local government to enhance healthcare services for the residents of Banna. A local resident, Pepito Paguirigan, expressed support for the project, highlighting its significance in ensuring the availability of safe water for the entire community. Before the technology’s installation, many residents relied on delivery services for their potable water needs.

Water experts recognize reverse osmosis as one of the most effective methods for water filtration, capable of producing clean drinking water by removing impurities, contaminants, and harmful pathogens. The technology is widely utilized for various purposes, including whole-house filtration, faucets, restaurants, and aquariums.

Banna’s clean water initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to improve water security in areas affected by drought or lacking access to fresh water.
