Japan Government has provided grant aid worth 500 million yen (approximately 60 billion Kip) for supports the Lao PDR host the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024.
The signed exchange of notes for the programme of which supports Lao PDR for the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024 was held in Vientiane onNov 28, between the Ambassador of Japan to Lao PDR Mr. KOBAYASHI Kenichi and Lao Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Thongphane Savanphet,
Witness of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith.
The support from Japan includes the installation of environmentally-friendly 33 hybrid vehicles and, high-performance, high-capacity network system equipment, wireless LAN equipment, and firewall equipment to protect from the threat of online attacks such as cyber-terrorism.
Japan and ASEAN have been cooperating for nearly 50 years to promote peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the Asian region, and have also forged close ties as business partners.
Japan will continue to support ASEAN and its members, based on the understanding that it is important for the stability and prosperity of the entire region that ASEAN, as the centre of regional cooperation, deepens its integration as a partner that shares values such as the rule of law and democracy.
