Kuweit has sought to recruit as much as 1,000 domestic workers from Laos.
The mention was made when Ms Hind Subaih, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour of Kuwait with Lao Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Khampeng Xaysompheng in Vientiane Capital on Oct 23, 2018.
“Most Lao workers working abroad are employed in domestic, service and agricultural industries,” said Minister Khampheng.
“I hope that in the further we will be able to send more Lao workers to Kuwait,” said Minister Khampheng.
Last year, Laos exported as many as 50,712 workers in the fiscal year that ended in September, including 27,176 women, official statistics show.
Most of these workers obtained jobs in Thailand, while just over 50 people found employment in Japan and the Republic of Korea after the two countries signed on to the Service Commitment Agreement of the Point System.
